1 Nothing –it is wrong to stay on the fence ((James 4:17) or say you would pray about it as a cliché while intending to do nothing more ((James 2:14-26).
- Suggest that the victim may be exaggerating
- Try to find a reason for the abusive behaviour.
- Tell the victim to try harder, pray harder and fast more, love more, forgive and forget, submit more or give the abuser what they want to maintain peace
- Make decisions for the victim, rather allow to make their own decision
- Confront the abuser –this may put the victim in grave danger
- Arrange couple counselling. In cases of domestic abuse, counselling should be separately done
- Assure the victim of complete confidentiality. Remember the confidentiality clause
