1 Nothing –it is wrong to stay on the fence ((James 4:17) or say you would pray about it as a cliché while intending to do nothing more ((James 2:14-26).

  1. Suggest that the victim may be exaggerating
  2. Try to find a reason for the abusive behaviour.
  3. Tell the victim to try harder, pray harder and fast more, love more, forgive and forget, submit more or give the abuser what they want to maintain peace
  4. Make decisions for the victim, rather allow to make their own decision
  5. Confront the abuser –this may put the victim in grave danger
  6. Arrange couple counselling. In cases of domestic  abuse, counselling should be separately done
  7. Assure the victim of complete confidentiality. Remember the confidentiality clause
